Tennis shoe giant awarded after bold step into padel

Tennis shoes have always been big business, especially for legendary Japanese brand ASICS, but there pivot into producing specialist shoes for padel has paid dividends as they picked up an award at the recent 2023 World Padel Awards.

Their ASICS Gel-Resolution 9 padel trainer picked up the ‘Shoe of the Year’ gong for the second year in a row.

Peter Hermanns from ASICS said, “We’re thrilled to win this award after introducing innovative technology with our unique padel outsole. We will keep innovating in coming seasons in line with our Japanese principle of Kaizen, or continuous improvement, which we apply to everything we do.”

The award includes votes from padel fans all over the world, amassing 164,326 participants this year. Other awards went to ‘Best Players - Ale Galán and Alejandra Salazar’.
