New Adult Sports Resource: APS

After connecting with Tanja Kropf on LinkedIn, I became curious about her business ADULTS PLAY SPORTS. Her LinkedIn profile states: “Adults Play Sports is a one-stop resource for adult sports. It includes content for adult athletes and the sports-curious, including featured adult athlete spotlights. It also includes a directory of adult sports leagues and gear recommendations. APS is for beginner athletes, weekend warriors, competitive athletes, and everyone in between.”

When I met Tanja in San Diego in early April, I got to meet a fascinating entrepreneur who started Adults Play Sports in January of 2023 and today has an astounding 20,000 page views a month on her website. Tanja described herself as a “lifelong soccer player and an admittedly shoddy tennis player.” She created the website with the intent to be a one-stop resource for adult sports.

WHO IS TANJA KROPF?
From her website: My love affair with soccer began when I was five years old. I’m the daughter of German immigrants, and my dad played semi-pro soccer in Germany, so it’s in my blood. I played off and on through adolescence. As a female, I didn’t always have the opportunity to play when I was younger. My high school didn’t have a girl’s team until my senior year. My college didn’t have a women’s team until after graduation (Go Gamecocks!).

When I moved back to my hometown of San Diego after college, there were a lot more opportunities for women to play, so I haven’t stopped since. Now, at age 50, I play on three soccer teams. I’ve dabbled in many different sports along the way–golf, pickleball, mountain biking (not the best idea for a klutz!), ping pong, tennis, and football. Some I excel in, others not so much! But I never pass up an opportunity to try something new. It’s part of what keeps us truly alive.

Adults Play Sports (adultsplaysports.com) is an online platform that is dedicated exclusively to adult sports, including tennis and other racquet sports.

APS’ biggest driver is its online directory of adult sports leagues, trainers, camps/clinics, and events. In the year since its launch, the site attracts more than 22,000 visitors each month–and is quickly growing. If you run a camp, league, tournament, or offer lessons or training, you can add a free listing in the APS directory and get seen by adult athletes searching specifically for racquet sports.

The Mission
The purpose of Adults Play Sports is to inspire people of any age to start playing, keep playing, and never stop playing sports.

In addition to the directory, the site includes content about adult sports, featured athletes, and gear reviews.
