US Open balls will make next year’s courts.
New partnership between RecycleBalls and Laykold will help to off-set the carbon equivalent of 26,000 cars.

Every tennis fan will be familiar with the call for ‘new balls please’. But what about the old balls? What happens to them? And why does this present such a huge challenge for tennis?

Figures from The World Bank show that in 2023, over 150 million tennis balls were imported into the USA alone. These balls quickly make their way to landfills and take over 400 years to decompose. Every year that’s more than 19,250,000 pounds of tennis balls with the carbon equivalent of 26,000 cars being driven for a full year. This carries a significant environmental impact that demands innovative solutions.

PICKLECON 24

We asked Ashley Owens of CourtReserve about her experience exhibiting at PickleCon in Kansas City. Here is Ashley’s summary:

“PickleCon was an exciting opportunity for CourtReserve to connect with the wider pickleball community.

Our booth attracted a lot of attention from club owners, directors, players, and vendors eager to learn how our platform could simplify their operations and boost engagement. I walked away knowing for sure that CourtReserve can continue our crucial role in supporting the sport’s growth. We’re more energized than ever to help clubs streamline their management and enhance the player experience.”

I don’t know who these guys are but their report from PickleCon is really interesting. All 12 minutes!
