Coaching Tip to Make Magic Happen on the Court

Coaching Tip to Make Magic Happen on the Court

Before you start your lesson…

Have the player close their eyes and demonstrate the stroke you intend to work on. When they close their eyes and execute the stroke, the student can only draw the picture of the stroke that is in their mind.  You will immediately know what to repair in their stroke without rebuilding the entire stroke.

Identify the error…

Have the player close their eyes and demonstrate their stroke. Now feed them a live ball and execute their stroke.  The difference between the eyes closed stroke and the eyes open stroke will show you what to correct.

Erase the error…

When a player makes a mistake, have them close their eyes and do a couple of practice swings.  The mind will automatically reset to the correct technique in most instances without having to suggest corrections.

Management Tip to make Magic Happen with your Team

A confident manager is not afraid to ask their employee or a particular teammate what they could improve to be a better manager.  Most managers offer tips to teammates or employees to improve their performance. Managers should be open to receiving feedback that could improve their skills or earn the trust of teammates to accept improvement tips.
