Rich’s observations
It takes a special kind of athlete to have fun with Padel. I found the majority of the students to be quite young, between 20 and 35 years of age, fit, competitive, and serious about playing well and learning everything they can to eventually teach Padel.
Marcos del Pilar is a very confident and friendly teacher. You immediately realize he knows what he’s talking about. The same applies to coach Diego Leal who happens to also be the Head Coach with Pura Padel.
Marcos emphasizes the importance of creating a bond with students, using their names. One of the lessons I witnessed was about the power of a plan. Create a professional, organized lesson plan for your students. Plan every single lesson on paper so you always know where you are with the curriculum, especially when a student has skipped a lesson or two.
All in all, a fabulous weekend organized by a professional team of Padel enthusiasts. I loved the energy and so did the students.

Coming soon: Los Angeles Padel Club
The Los Angeles Padel Club (LAPC), the first permanent padel club & clubhouse in Los Angeles, is set for a summer 2025 opening in highly coveted West Los Angeles market.
Commercial real estate developer Steve Shpilsky, also a fellow padel enthusiast, along with Christ Ishoo, owner of Los Angeles’ pro team LA Beat and the co-founder of EEP Capital, have been working behind the scenes with padel industry titans to fill the gap in the Los Angeles padel market. At roughly an acre in size, the LAPC team is thrilled to announce that they have found an iconic location to build out the LAPC property. The 37,000 sq ft of undeveloped grounds, features a historic & beautifully-restored 4,600 sq ft mansion from Hollywood’s bygone golden era. They are thrilled to bring to market Los Angeles’ first large scale padel club and grounds, which will feature 7 permanent courts (two full-time tournament courts) against a backdrop of stunning views and surrounded by major corporate giants, such as Sony Pictures, Apple Studios, and Amazon Studios, to name a few. While LAPC will be open to the public, invited members will have access to additional perks and features. The clubhouse will serve as a social club for members providing a variety of services, such as locker rooms, a pro/demo shop, food & beverage, co-working space, and outdoor lounge space.
The new LAPC facility will usher in a serious presence for the city of Los Angeles and elevate its status among the pro circuit, but the LAPC founders and partners are focused on so much more. As the sport of padel has exploded in popularity globally, there is a serious recognition to promote the sport across all demographics.
“Our club will be a home to the serious pro, whether it is our LA Beat athletes or other visiting padel pros, but it will also serve the greater Los Angeles community amateur athletes and friends who want to learn and excel in the exciting and fun sport of padel. Our coaching staff and partners are already planning a robust program to bring high quality padel instruction to our guests, young and old,” adds Founder Steve Shpilsky.
