A few months ago, we met with Elena in Pasadena, California. Impressed by her drive to celebrate recreational Pickleball players and grow the sport by strengthening and connecting communities nationwide and soon worldwide, we decided to explore the different components of her organization.

In 1997, Elena briefly stepped into the world of stand-up comedy, hosting the Out For Laughs comedy show in North Hollywood while continuing her legal practice. Since her semi-retirement from full-time law, she has immersed myself in e-commerce, digital marketing, and publishing, founding multiple Shopify stores in various niches, and publishing The Fit Pickler Newsletter and Pickleball Deals of the Week.

When she started the Recreational Pickleball Players Association (RPPA), her vision was always bigger than a directory. She wanted to build a true community for recreational pickleball — not just for players but for those making a living in the pickleball space, so she recently added the RPPA Business Alliance to help small businesses in the space, collaborate, create partnerships, and share ideas on what’s working now.
