Mike Knowles, the only racquet sports advisor who’s been a player, a brand builder, and a CMO: THE CMO IS NOT A MACHINE. What an AI can run, what it cannot, and why racquet sports operators should care about the difference. Seven hundred and forty-two comments. That was the count on the post the last time I looked. Most of them a single word: CMO.

New Facility for New Jersey

A New Racquet Sports Destination Is Coming to New Jersey!

Jess Gordimer, Marketing & Social Media Coordinator at The Club NJ, an indoor sports and wellness facility bringing pickleball, padel, and golf together under one roof, writes:

Opening this November, The Club at Marlboro will be a new 35,000-square-foot destination featuring nine indoor pickleball courts, two padel courts, three Trackman golf simulators, a gym, and a luxury recovery center.

What makes The Club unique is the variety of experiences we offer, giving people of different interests and skill levels a place to play, stay active, and connect with others.

We’re especially excited to expand into the padel space, as the sport continues to grow and opportunities to play in New Jersey remain limited. We see this as an opportunity to help introduce more people to the sport while continuing to grow the local racquet sports community.

New Facility for Northern California

Flyte Racquet Club in San Rafael, California

Javier Salamanca, Director of Padel Operations & Member Engagement at Flyte Racquet Club, writes:

Flyte Racquet Club is located in San Rafael, California, and brings together tennis, pickleball, and padel in one club. Founded in 2023, it expanded its facilities in May 2025 with the addition of four outdoor padel courts, the first in Marin County.

The club has four padel courts, six tennis courts, and 23 pickleball courts, including seven indoor courts, four covered courts, and 12 outdoor courts. Beyond sports, Flyte offers spaces for fitness, recovery, working, and socializing, making the club a place where members can spend time before and after their matches.

My work at Flyte focuses on padel operations and member engagement. This involves coaching, organizing programs, connecting players, and helping build the padel community. Our programming includes private lessons, group clinics, Open Play sessions, and advanced round robins. We want beginners to feel comfortable trying the sport while giving experienced players opportunities to train and compete.

One of our biggest challenges is introducing padel to a community where many people are still unfamiliar with it. That means teaching the rules, helping players understand how to use the glass, and making it easy for them to find suitable partners and opponents. The challenge goes beyond getting someone to try padel once: we want to help them develop a lasting interest and make it part of their weekly routine.

Flyte offers individual and family memberships, with options based on the sports members want to play. Selected programs and events are also available to nonmembers, providing an opportunity to experience the club and meet the community.

For me, the most interesting part of this project is the opportunity to help grow a sport from its early stages in a new area. Bringing people together, seeing their improvement, and watching regular playing groups develop has been especially rewarding.
