A Game Changer For Racquet Sports

Issue 124: News, trends, conversations, and "holding their feet to the fire" since 2014

RACQUETX - A World-Class Festival

Hello dear readers, friends, and racket sports enthusiasts.

We did it! The first issue of Racket Business has arrived.

This would have been the 124th issue of ‘Tennis Club Business’ so we’ll continue the numbering accordingly and as we are now a British-American co-production it means we interchange between using “racquet” and “racket”. Both are acceptable and interchangeable. (Please feel free to use either spelling as there is no right or wrong).

We hope you will appreciate our new design, which exudes a more professional appearance compared to the previous design of TCB.

This month, we have so much diverse content with RacquetX taking a major place because it was such an incredible convention. But there is also the USTA Southern California section which seems to be in financial trouble. Rich spent two days at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. We added a Learning Skills section and featured some people who make a difference in both tennis and Pickleball. Gary Horvath writes about the tennis boom being over but what’s next? Rod Heckelman is asking “Did Anybody Notice?” about organizational name changes. Netflix and its discontinuation of “Break Point” is a good topic as is The War Over Tennis Courts.

Our case study of a UK tennis club that has found success after boldly adding padel courts before most others is well worth a read, as is our look at the economies of a small town pickleball club.

So much more….
